AIRPODS PRO 3 VS. AIRPODS PRO 2: IS THE UPGRADE WORTH IT?

You have certainly heard about the new AirPods Pro 3. They are quite unrivalled when it comes to great wireless sound.
But the question is: Is it worth moving switching to the new generation? We will go through the changes and how each of them works. This will help you decide accordingly.
What’s new?
Superficially, the two models seem to be very similar. But the later generation brings out some reasonable refinements:
Improved noise reduction and sound
Apple claims that the Pro 3 offers more active noise cancellation (ANC) capability than the previous version. This is due to a superior internal architecture. By this, we mean the next-generation adaptive EQ. This implies a higher level of immersion, be it silencing the noise in the city or focusing on a podcast.
Longer battery life
AirPods Pro 3 offer approximately 8 hours of listening time with ANC on a single charge. The previous version offers approximately 6 hours. So, that is a very significant boost.
Fit and durability
The third generation has redesigned foam-filled ear tips with larger size choices (including XXS). Many people consider them more secure and comfortable during long listening hours or workouts. Their water resistance is also enhanced to IP57. This is more resistant to sweat and moisture.
Additional features
There are new features, such as a heart rate sensor and better discoverability with the new U2 chip. These are superficial additions. But they are nice to have if you want to explore what other features your earbuds can do besides sound.

What the AirPods Pro 2 has to offer is still great
Although the Pro 3 offers some new refinements, the AirPods Pro 2 are strong competition for daily use:
ANC and sound performance were already good
At the time of their launch, AirPods Pro 2 set the standard for wireless earbuds. They have excellent noise cancellation and a dynamic quality of sound that many users adore to this day.
Adaptive EQ, transparency mode, and spatial audio
These characteristics translate to:
- A balanced sound
- Smooth audio transitions in calls, music, and video.
These capabilities are fully baked into the entire Pro 2 experience.
The Pro 2 has a lower price. This is due to its longer time in the market. This makes it a worthy alternative.
So, is the upgrade worth it?
This depends on how you use your earbuds and what can improve your life the most:
- Better ANC and comfort? The Pro 3 has better noise cancellation and fit. Switching might be appealing if you commute, travel, or wear earbuds in noisy places.
- Battery life matters? The increased playtime on ANC when using the Pro 3 is a factual benefit if you do not have access to chargers most of the time.
- Value for money? AirPods Pro 2 can still provide high-quality sound and capabilities that will fulfill everyday requirements.
The AirPods Pro 3 can be a worthwhile upgrade. But the AirPods Pro 2 are still great and more affordable.
